News and Updates

  • 30 June 2005 The Nuansa Maninjau Hotel has informed us that their advertised discounted rate will be on offer only if you make your reservations before the 7th of July. For reservations made after this date, a higher rate will be applicable.

  • 30 June 2005 The terms of our deal with the Nuansa Maninjau Hotel have been renegotiated: the advertised price now includes breakfast and lunch (rather than breakfast and dinner, as previously announced). This will provide participants with greater flexibility for the evening meal.

  • 30 June 2005 The programme page has been updated with numerous changes.

  • 15 June 2005 As of today, citizens of 14 more countries may obtain visas on arrival in Indonesia: China, India, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Austria, Ireland, Kuwait, Belgium, Portugal, Qatar, Russia, Egypt and Greece. The extension of the visa-on-arrival facility to two additonal countries, the Netherlands and Sweden, is "still being processed": probably too late for ISMIL 9.

  • 11 June 2005 A poster advertising ISMIL 9 is available here. Please feel free to make and distribute as many copies of the poster as you like.

  • 4 Apr 2005 Some participants have been experiencing difficulties making their hotel reservations at the Nuansa Maninjau by email or fax. If all else seems to be failing, please contact Diana Safitri <max at biz.net.id > and she will make the reservations for you over the phone. Rest assured that there are more than enough rooms for everybody.

  • 1 Apr 2005: The programme has been posted and is available here.

  • 30 Mar 2005: No casualties or damage were reported from Maninjau in the aftermath of the 8.7 Richter-scale earthquake that was centered off the island of Nias late in the night of March 28.

  • 9 Mar 2005: Silkair will be resuming their twice weekly flights from Singapore to Padang. See the By Air, Via Singapore section on the How to get to Maninjau page.
