Note: The University of Delaware is located in Newark, Delaware, not to be confused with the more well-known Newark in New Jersey.

Arriving by Air

Newark, DE's nearest major airports are at Philadelphia (PHL), which is about 40 minutes by car, and Baltimore (BWI), which is about 70 minutes by car. From both airports take Route I-95 (South from Philadelphia, North from BWI).

Both airports are serviced by the Delaware Express Airport Shuttle Service.

The cost from Philadelphia (PHL) is about $35.
The cost from Baltimore (BWI) is about $70.
You can make your reservation online or by calling the 800 number above.
When arriving at the airport go to the transport desk and they will call the shuttle and let you know when it arrives.

Amtrak is also a possibility for getting from the airports to Newark but the nearest stop is Wilmington (apart from one train a day in each direction which stops in Newark). From Wilmington there are regional rail services (SEPTA) to Newark.

By Car

From the north: Take I-95 South to Delaware Exit 1-B; Route 896 North, which becomes South College Avenue at the intersection of Route 4. Continue straight approximately two miles on South College Avenue (past Fred P. Rullo Stadium, the Bob Carpenter/Sports Convocation Center, Delaware Stadium, and the Delaware Field House). Turn left into Visitors Parking Lot #41 (adjacent to the Visitors Center).

From the south: Take I-95 North to Delaware Exit 1; Route 896 North, which becomes South College Avenue at the intersection of Route 4. Continue straight approximately two miles on South College Avenue (past Fred P. Rullo Stadium, the Bob Carpenter/Sports Convocation Center, Delaware Stadium, and the Delaware Field House). Turn left into Visitors Parking Lot #41 (adjacent to the Visitors Center).

From the west: Take the Pennsylvania Turnpike East to Route 283 South. Continue on Route 283 South, which becomes Route 30 East outside of Lancaster, to Route 896 South. As you reach campus and cross the railroad tracks, immediately turn left onto Delaware Avenue and right (at the second traffic light) onto South College Avenue. Continue straight on South College Avenue to Visitors Parking Lot #41. Turn right into Visitors Parking Lot #41 (adjacent to the Visitors Center).

Parking

For parking nearby the venue building there is a municipal parking lot behind the Department of Linguistics buildings, on E Delaware Ave. On this map it is marked blue and is immediately to the right of "22".

Also there is a parking garage on Academy next to the Perkins Student Center which is a 5 minute walk away from the venue.

By Train and By Bus

AMTRAK trains run between Florida and New England and stop in Wilmington. Greyhound buses from Baltimore, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., and New York City travel to Wilmington. The Greyhound bus will drop you off in front of the Wilmington train station. From the Wilmington train station, it is a 45-minute express bus ride to campus via the #6 DART bus; non-express buses may take slightly longer. Express buses run every half-hour at a cost of $1.90 each way. Limited taxi service to Newark from the Wilmington train station is also available. Additionally, limited AMTRAK and regional rail service (SEPTA) is available to the Newark train station.
